Countertop Basin Forma Matt White

A countertop basin sits on top of the countertop rather than being recessed into it – its whole body stays visible and the waste runs through a hole cut in the countertop. Forma Matt White is a round acrylic basin in matt white, with no overflow and no tap hole.

No tap hole means the tap is fitted next to the basin – either in the countertop (a tall deck-mounted tap) or in the wall (a concealed tap). This is a deliberate choice: the unbroken rim of the bowl looks clean, and your choice of tap is not restricted by a fixed hole position.

The lack of an overflow, on the other hand, calls for a click-clack waste in the no-overflow version – an ordinary plug with a side opening will not work properly. Bear in mind, too, that in a basin without an overflow the water has no escape route, so a running tap should never be left unattended.

Acrylic is a lightweight material that feels warm to the touch – it does not go as cold as ceramic. It needs gentle cleaning products: abrasive powders and acetone-based preparations dull and scratch the surface. How should acrylic be cleaned?

With a soft cloth and a mild liquid cleaner. Cream and powder abrasives, acetone and solvents are out of the question – fine scratches in acrylic can be polished out, but a surface dulled by chemicals cannot be restored.
